Over the past 20 years we have established ourselves as market leaders in garden safe chemicals, all supported by our 'Children and Pet Safe' symbol, now recognised throughout the industry as the symbol of 'trust'. Wessex Horticultural Products was founded on the principal of selling the highest quality products at competitive prices, with a first-class service and to the customer’s requirements.

Now the Monro Brand Wessex this is still very much the principal followed today. Wessex is one of the United Kingdom’s leading manufacturers and suppliers to the complete UK horticultural market with growing media, composts, soil improvers and aggregates for the UK’s DIY and Garden Centre market, supplying soil-based, peat-based and peat-free products, together with mulches and decorative stones.

However, this is only one small area of the Wessex business. We supply the Specialist Grower; the Amenity Market; the interior/exterior Landscape Market and we are the No. 1 exporter of coir on a worldwide basis.

The Grower

For the Grower we pay particular attention to the individual, specialist growers who need mixes (whether peat-free or peat-based) produced to their exact specification.

The Amenity Market

We supply golf courses, football grounds, sports centres etc, with the highest quality screened & sterilised virgin Top Soil, Root Zone mixes (to exacting USGA specifications) and specialist Fineturf Top Dressings.

The Landscape Market

We supply high quality virgin Top Soil, Top Dressings, Peat-Free Tree & Shrub Compost, Specialist Composts for roof gardens and containerised planting, and landscape materials such as bark and aggregates etc.

The Coir Market

Wessex is the No.1 exporter throughout the world, with our export market including the whole of Europe, the Middle East, the USA and Australia. Wessex pioneered its use in horticulture 16 years ago, when we founded a company in Sri Lanka producing and exporting many coir products. Wessex created and registered the name Cocopeat® - now the generic name for coir worldwide.

Cocopeat® is a unique growing media which gives truly outstanding results. It holds more water and air than peat and is an ideal growing media, offering vigorous root growth, fast and healthy plant establishment, and therefore more crops/plants per season.
